Punch Brothers // 3-27-15 // Roseland Theater

20150327PunchBrothersFor the past nine years the Punch Brothers have been at the forefront of a new bluegrass sound that incorporates all the musical influences that we have at our fingertips. The quintet is headed up by mandolin virtuoso, Chris Thile, and includes banjoist Noam Pikelny, violinist Gabe Witcher, guitarist Chris Eldridge, and bassist Paul Kowert.

This is a band that is at the top of their game in terms of mastery of their instruments, each given the spotlight throughout the show to demonstrate that technique.

They sold out the Roseland Theater,, which for those in the know, is about as much fun as a packed bus ride across town. Despite the limitations of the venue, the crowd was tightly tuned into the show, dancing when the song was swinging and quiet as a mouse during the slower ballads.
